NEW DELHI: Two people were on Wednesday arrested in connection with the killing of a ragpicker during a snatching bid in southeast Delhi’s Pul Prahladpur two days ago. The third suspect who allegedly shot the victim is absconding.The two accused, Sachin (22) and Aman (19), are both residents of Pul Prahladpur. “They were arrested by a team led by ACP Jagdev Singh and inspector Sanjay Dahiya,” said Rajesh Deo, DCP (southeast).Cops probing the case had collected CCTV footage from the area. The bike used in the crime was spotted in the footage and its owner was traced. The motorcycle was found registered in the name of one Aakash Vaid, who told cops the bike belonged to his younger brother Veeru.Veeru told police that his friend Aman had borrowed his bike for two days by claiming that his own motorcycle was under repair. Police conducted raids at Aman’s possible hideouts when he couldn’t be found at his house. He and his aide Sachin were later arrested.During interrogation, the two accused revealed the role of their third associate, Irshad, in the crime. They had conspired to rob a Mother Dairy milk supplier as they were aware about his regular trips to the bank for depositing the day’s collection.After tailing the target for three-four days, they finally tried to ambush him on February 13. They tried to stop him near a public toilet but the businessman got suspicious and tried to flee. Irshad allegedly whipped out his pistol and fired at him. The target, however, ducked and the bullet hit a ragpicker, Jullu Dafadar, who was standing nearby. The victim died on the spot while the robbers and the businessman fled. Police are now looking for Irshad.
