GURGAON: A 39-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death at a farmhouse in Bhondsi and thrown into a pool to make it look like a case of suicide.Police made the revelation after a weeklong probe into the death of Amit Kumar on April 24. Amit, a mobile accessories salesperson from Uttam Nagar in Delhi, was called to the Bhondsi farmhouse for work and was believed to have drowned in the pool.Since his family members insisted that Amit did not have any enmity with anyone, police had not suspected any foul play. The course of the investigation, however, changed when the autopsy report mentioned that Amit died not from drowning, but internal injuries, including brain trauma, following a severe assault.Following Amit’s death, the police had asked for an autopsy to be done because the body had several injury marks on it.”Prabha Devi, his mother, said her son worked at a shop owned by one Ankur Jain in Uttam Nagar. He used to supply phone accessories to different shops. On April 24, he and his employer had gone to the farmhouse along with some friends. They told us he had drowned in the pool. He was taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His family did not suspect any foul play. But we initiated an inquiry under Section 174 of the CrPC (police to inquire and report further),” a police officer said. The cops are now gathering details of everyone who was present in the farmhouse that day and are scanning CCTV footage to get clarity on the sequence of events.”On April 25, a board of doctors conducted an autopsy. We insisted on the autopsy because the body had several injury marks on it. The report revealed that the man suffered brain injuries, which suggests he may have been thrashed. We have now registered an FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. We are also scanning CCTV footage of the farmhouse to get details on who were present there and what exactly happened that day. No one has been identified so far. But we hope the accused will be arrested soon,” the officer said.
