NEW DELHI: BJP on Thursday alleged discrepancies in the supply of ration by Delhi government and claimed that card holders in the city were not getting subsidised grains for two months.Leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly, Ramvir Bidhuri, said: “Modi government at the Centre has issued ration to the poor of Delhi under Food Security Act and Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Kalyan Yojana, but due to Delhi government, the ration could not reach the shopkeepers till now.” AAP did not respond to the allegations.Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that Kejriwal government’s “callousness” in making freight arrangements was responsible for ration not reaching the poor citizens for months on end.Kapoor said people who had come from other states to reside in Delhi were given ration under the “One Nation One Card” scheme. The Centre, he claimed, had issued 8,000 tonnes of rice and 11,900 tonnes of wheat for April-September, but Delhi government could not distribute even that.Bidhuri said he had requested LG VK Saxena to intervene and until the high court gave its decision on the matter, Delhi government should arrange the delivery of ration from godowns to fair-price shops through private transporters.Delhi BJP working president Virendra Sachdeva had earlier claimed PDS in the capital had come to a “complete standstill due to the negligence of Kejriwal government”, asking the Centre to take over the process or transfer the subsidy directly into consumers’ bank accounts.
