NEW DELHI: A 70-year-old man opened fire at another elderly man in north Delhi’s Civil Lines. Police said the incident took place outside the finance commissioner’s office on Thursday. The accused, who is also a septuagenarian, had lost an arbitration case regarding a housing society in Vikaspuri.According to police, the incident came to light after they received a PCR call about it. They rushed to the spot and found that the victim, had been taken to a hospital.DCP (North) Sagar Singh Kalsi said that KK Sharma had shot Pradeep Behel, also 70-year-old, with his licensed firearm outside the finance commissioner’s office at 11.15 am. An inquiry further revealed that an arbitration matter was under way regarding a housing society in Vikaspuri, and on Thursday, Sharma, a resident of the society, had lost the case against Behel and others. The case had been ongoing for several years.When Behel was sitting at a tea stall, Sharma suddenly appeared and fired 2-3 shots. “Behel got an injury on his right arm, and currently, he is stable. Legal action has been initiated and the accused apprehended,” another officer said.”Sharma was an ex-serviceman and then retired from another government job. He used to carry weapons with him. Soon after the order came, Sharma got infuriated and attacked Behel with the pistol.”Cops are checking CCTV footage of the area to ascertain the sequence of events and they have also questioned some people in this regard. Police will now write to the licensing unit to cancel the weapon licence of the accused.
