NEW DELHI: A woman fought off a miscreant who tried to snatch her mobile phone in southeast Delhi’s Badarpur area recently. Police have apprehended a minor in this case. At 11.27 pm on September 4, police received a call from the woman, a resident of Tikri, about the incident. A team from local police station reached the spot and met the complainant. The woman told the cops that she was going to her friend’s house at Tajpur Pahari when the incident took place. One person tried to snatch her mobile phone but she resisted and caught his t-shirt even as the accused kept attacking her with fist and leg. The snatcher was somehow able to escape. The incident, which took place at an isolated stretch, was captured on a CCTV camera. A case under sections 379 (punishment for theft), 356 (assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property carried by a person) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of IPC was registered at Badarpur police station.
