NEW DELHI: Three people, including two policemen, were apprehended for allegedly kidnapping a sales tax agent and extorting money from him after threatening him to lodge inside the jail. Delhi Police said another accused constable, Amit, was absconding. The incident took place on October 11 in the GTB Enclave area. The agent was going home in Tahirpur by car from his office in ITO. As soon as he got down from the Shahdara flyover and reached the old DCP office, his car was overtaken by another white-coloured car. Sources said that the complainant told cops that there were three people in the car who looked like policemen. “One of them told the victim that ‘you live in Tahirpur. We are getting a lot of complaints. We are from the crime branch’. He was then forcefully made to sit inside their car, and one of the accused put a pistol on his chest. They snatched Rs 35,000 from him,” sources added. The accused also threatened him to make arrangements for Rs five lakh, otherwise they would arrest and lodge him in jail. They took him near his house and he gave them Rs 95,000 more out of fear. Later, the victim filed a complaint with GTB Enclave police station in this connection. During the identification parade, he identified the accused cops. A case was then registered. The accused were identified as Sandeep, Robin (both constables) and their associate Wahid. “We are raiding at different places to arrest one Gaurav, who is a bad character of Seemapuri, and constable Amit, who is posted in Delhi Police sixth battalion. The role of one more sub-inspector is also being probed,” an officer said.
