NEW DELHI: Nearly 200 passengers were made to sit in an aircraft for around five hours at the IGI airport before they were informed that the flight had been cancelled. Some of them tweeted that they were made to sit without food and water and were not allowed to leave the plane.Sources said Thai Airlines TG-332 was scheduled to depart for Bangkok at 3.30am, but it was delayed due to technical reasons and was cancelled at 8.30am. “All passengers were given hotel accommodation,” said an official at Indira Gandhi International Airport.Ajey Mehta, a passenger, tweeted from inside the plane, “It’s 7.41am. We have been on board for over four hours. No announcement. No food. Captain silent. Cannot disembark.” Tagging the airline, Mehta alleged that it was callous behaviour and disappointing. He also wrote that they were told about a technical snag and requested the authorities to take some action. At 8.18am, Mehta again tweeted, “Power has been switched off. 5 hours+ on board on Delhi runway. Still no news on the problem or departure time. No food being served. Captain silent.”Mehta later tagged Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and IGIA on Twitter, saying, “Crew claims that Delhi airport authorities do not allow passengers to disembark. What happens if there are senior citizens or infants on board? Luckily none on this flight.”Another passenger, Vinod Sharma, tweeted, “More than 100 passengers are stuck in Thai Airways flight TG-332 for more than 5 hours at IGI T3… no food, no water.” Sharma later tweeted, “Thai Airways flight TG332 staff and flight captain are not supporting and not listening to us, we are still in the flight. Most of us are having connecting flights in Thailand, but the staff doing nothing and not even serving tea.”The airline didn’t comment about the incident till the time of filing the report.
