The city is likely to receive light rain from Friday onwards.NEW DELHI: The maximum temperature in Delhi rose further by a degree on Tuesday as the city saw another day without rain. The weather department expects the mercury to cross 37 degrees on Wednesday. However, the city is likely to receive light rain from Friday onwards. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), at Safdarjung, the maximum temperature was recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average. The minimum temperature was 27.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average, as against 25.1 degrees Celsius on Monday. “The monsoon line of trough is currently far from the city. There are chances of light rain and strong winds on Friday due to convective clouds, which will also bring the mercury down,” said an official at IMD. Meanwhile, the air quality again slipped back to the moderate category. On Tuesday, the air quality index, on a scale of 0 to 500, was recorded at 112 compared with 84 a day earlier.
