NOIDA: From modern lighting, sculptures, greenery, and resurfacing of roads to reflectors and signage, traders in the Sector 18 market have demanded a revamp of the area ahead of the G20 Summit, which will be held in Delhi from September 9–10 this year.“Given its proximity to Delhi, Noida is not untouched by developments of national and international importance. Sector 18 is Noida’s largest market, with numerous popular restaurants, cafes, branded showrooms, jewellers, and other businesses. Located strategically right at the entry of the city, it’s important to showcase the market as a thriving and bustling commercial hub on international lines ahead of the G20 Summit,” said S K Jain, the president of the Sector 18 market association. On Sunday, Jain wrote to Noida CEO Ritu Maheshwari, urging a focus on infrastructure, lighting, hygiene and the promotion of the market as a thriving destination showcasing the best of Noida.“Improving visitor experience at the market will result in increased revenue for the Authority. For this, there should be a focus on providing better infrastructure, like increasing the number of benches at plazas and seating areas for people to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Besides, the Authority can provide G20 theme lights on highrises of the market like the multi storey parking, buildings around Tikona Park, C, B, J, G, and F blocks and all the entrances to the market and surrounding roads,” he said, adding that better CCTV surveillance will ensure the safety of the visitors.Meanwhile, the Authority has yet to respond to the letter.
