NEW DELHI: The Bhairon Marg T-junction on Ring Road-a key stretch connecting central Delhi to NCR -will be illuminated as part of a new PWD project expected to cost around Rs 45 lakh, officials have said. The area was in darkness after some of the electricity cables and power transmission lines were damaged during the Pragati Maidan Transit Corridor project, they added. “This is an important stretch on Ring Road, we will not only repair the existing streetlights but also add more around the Bhairon Marg T-junction. LED lights and streetlights will be installed. Currently, the stretch is a dark spot after the construction of the Pragati Maidan tunnel” said a public works department official. The majority of work on the transit corridor was completed in June but since then the area, including two main roads – Mathura Road and Ring Road – has been in darkness. While the tunnel has opened partially, people use this stretch to go towards Ring Road which needs better lighting, and further to Sarai Kale Khan as the tunnel is closed at night.
