The cloudy skies and strong winds brought down the daytime temperature. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is unlikely from Wednesday to Friday. The maximum temperature at Safdarjung, which is the city’s base station, was recorded at 33.1 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal, on Tuesday. It was 1.8 degrees lower than Monday’s maximum temperature. The minimum temperature settled at 27 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity oscillated between 63% and 92%. Safdarjung witnessed very light rain between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm and logged 2.2mm rainfall. Ayanagar and Palam saw light showers as they recorded 6.8 and 4.6mm rainfall, respectively, during the period. Lodhi Road and Ridge reported 2.7 and 2.8mm rainfall, respectively. “The monsoon trough has moved away from Delhi and hence, rain is unlikely for the next few days. Only partly cloudy skies are likely from Wednesday to Friday,” said an IMD official. The maximum temperature is expected to rise to 35 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and may hover around 36 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday. However, light rain or thundershowers are likely on August 20 and 21 and there is a possibility of very light rain or drizzle on August 22. Safdarjung has recorded 24.9mm in August so far as against the normal of 125.4mm and has been staring at a rain deficit of 80%. Delhi’s air quality, meanwhile, continued to remain in the ‘satisfactory’ category. The overall Air Quality Index was recorded at 63, but the hourly AQI had improved to 58 at 10 am on Tuesday. The air quality of the capital is likely to remain in the ‘satisfactory’ category for the next three days. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookTwitterInstagramKOO APPYOUTUBE
