My father has been operated upon and brother is also serious,” he said.Locals caught one of the accused, Ibal Hussain, and thrashed him. Hussain is also undergoing treatment at a city hospital. Police have formed several teams to nab the remaining accused.A senior officer said a PCR call was received at 1am on Friday. “An altercation with Khan, who stays on rent just opposite the victims’ house, ensued over car parking. The matter was resolved initially, but Khan later called his associates and confronted the victims and fired at them. The injured were moved to hospital and one of the associates who fired at them was nabbed immediately by locals,” said the officer. Locals also damaged Khan’s car. Police later arrested Hussain. A case under sections of attempt to murder of Indian Penal Code and under Arms Act has been registered at the Bhajanpura police station. Though the accused and the victims belong to different communities, police made it clear that there was no communal angle in this attack. “Police presence in the area has been increased to prevent any untoward situation or spread of rumour,” the officer added.Saurabh claimed that his brother had politely asked Khan to move his car. “My brother told him to either move the car ahead or back, so that both cars could be parked, and in case of any emergency, could be moved out easily,” he said. He alleged that it seemed that Khan was drunk and was just looking for a pretext to fight. “He initially apologised and left, but came back after 20-25 minutes and randomly started arguing with me. I was standing at the gate. He opened fire, but I ducked and saved myself. They did not stop and continued firing,” said Saurabh. The family, which stays in C-9 in Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, said that they were shocked that someone could open fire over such a petty issue. “We don’t know if a tenant verification for Khan was done. He shifted two-three months ago with his family, but his family has left,” claimed a close aide of the victims’ family.
