NOIDA: Nearly two months since the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) invited IT companies to develop an app to register dogs in Greater Noida, it is yet to roll the app out. However, officials said that it is in the final phase of development and will be launched soon. Pet owners in Greater Noida said that the delay in bringing out the app puts them in danger of facing unnecessary trouble with their pets in residential societies. Mukund Kumar, a resident of JM Florence society, said, “Pet registration is mandatory for the safety of pet owners and others. Staying in an apartment setup with a pet has become difficult, especially after a series of rows over dogs in various societies. The Greater Noida authority must bring the pet registration app out soon so we can confidently step outside with our pets.”Another resident Kuldeep, who owns a Labrador, said, “Several societies have reported altercations over pets in the past few months, and the pet registration app will offer us relief from such troubles. I am a resident of Delhi and have moved to Greater Noida for work. I cannot register my dog in Delhi since I live in Greater Noida. In several cases, people do not register dogs because the process is cumbersome and the right information is unavailable to pet owners.”In the first week of December 2022, the Greater Noida authority invited applications for developing the app. Companies submitted their proposal by December 10. The pet registration fee is Rs 500 in Noida but Rs 1,000 in Ghaziabad, where pet owners have to upload pet vaccination proof with identity proof. However, in Greater Noida, the actual fees of registration will be finalised once the app is ready. Prerna Sharma, an additional CEO of GNIDA, said, “The development of the app for pet registration is in the final phase, and we will roll it out soon for people to avail of the online service.”
