NOIDA: An 80-year-old man was gored to death by a stray bull in Greater Noida’s Rabupura on Thursday.Police said Bashir, a resident of a nearby village, was attacked when he was out for a walk.”On Thursday morning, a passerby called and informed us about the incident. A team from the Rabupura police station rushed to the spot. The man was grievously injured and bleeding profusely. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital,” a police officer said.Bashir’s family members were informed and they reached the police station. “It appears he was alone on the road when the bull attacked him. The family has not lodged any complaint so far. We completed the legal formalities and handed the body to them,” the officer said, adding that the last rites were done by the family in their village. The attack has renewed a debate over cattle being abandoned on the roads by farmers when they turn old. Residents said they had made repeated requests to the Noida Authority to provide a shelter for such animals, but to no avail.Animal shelters in the city, however, are crowded. The number of animals kept in these shelters are much more than their capacities.
