NOIDA: Following a video of two SUVs performing drift stunts in Sector 125 being shared on social media, the Gautam Budh Nagar police have initiated a probe and are trying to identify the vehicles and their drivers. However, no case has been registered yet. The caption of the video – which was posted on Instagram – says the stunt is being performed by a private university’s students in Noida. In the 13-second clip, two Toyota Fortuner cars are seen performing drift stunts on a road in Sector 125. Rajneesh Verma, assistant commissioner of police-1, Noida, said, “After the video surfaced online, the Noida police took cognizance and it was found out that the video is over a month old and was uploaded on Twitter by a user after taking it from Instagram where it was originally posted.””The location has also been traced and it is not near the university named in the video. Investigators are yet to verify whether the cars belong to the varsity students or others,” the ACP added. “The registration plates of the SUVs are not visible in the video and the police are trying to trace the same. Inquiry has been initiated while several people are also being questioned,” cops said. Over the last several months, Noida as well Ghaziabad police have been taking action against people performing dangerous stunts on roads. The vehicles are being seized and the users are being challaned. In September, Ghaziabad police had issued a warning to troublemakers on the Hindon elevated road. “This is becoming a regular feature. So, we have decided that two police teams will be deployed in the area late at night to check such instances. We are also putting up flex boards with messages for the public to restrain from such acts,”
