Residents at the protest inside the highrise society on TuesdayNOIDA: The woman (38), who confronted Shrikant Tyagi, and her family are under constant watch by security personnel the police have deployed for their protection, including when she and her husband visit the jewellery showroom they run and when their kids go to school and even play in the society park. The woman, who is from Meerut, has been living in the society for seven years. She had decided to speak up against Tyagi, whom most others chose to criticise privately or remained silent about, following the AOA secretary’s intimation that he was planting more trees in the common area of the Sector 93B society. Security concerns escalated after Tyagi’s supporters entered the society on Sunday evening and shouted slogans in his favour. A close friend of the family who also lives in the Sector 93B society said on Tuesday, “After what happened, they are scared. They are continuing with their regular lives, but still… The family is not interacting much with anyone. They have not come out of the trauma.” The friend blamed the police for Tyagi’s escape after a video clip of the confrontation between her friend and him went viral. “When the police arrived, we (residents) requested them to go to Tyagi’s house, but they did not. In all this, Tyagi found time to escape. Around 4.30 am, a car came, and Tyagi fled in the car,” she said. Tyagi’s supporters, she added, had been trying to reach her friend’s apartment on Sunday evening. “But as they did not know her address, they knocked on another resident’s door, asking for her address. The resident alerted my friend, asking her to keep the door closed. My friend told me she does not trust the security personnel or the police. So, she is now not interacting with anyone and keeping things private,” she said. The family, she added, thinks the incident got portrayed like it was her versus Tyagi, whereas it was the whole society versus Tyagi. “My friend told me that she is upset and all these events might turn dangerous for her family in future,” she said. TOI tried to talk to the family, but could not reach them. Meanwhile, residents on Tuesday evening protested near Tyagi’s house, where the authorities demolished some of the encroachments on Monday. During the protest, they raised concerns over security in the highrise. Swati Agarwal, a resident, said, “In 2019, I was part of the AOA team, and we complained to the Noida Authority about Tyagi’s illegal encroachments. After that, one day, I saw my bicycle on fire outside my flat. I complained to the police. Since the incidents of the past few days, all of us have been living in fear. We want the government to take strict action against Tyagi and ensure he does not do anything in the future.” However, residents said they have nothing against Tyagi’s family. Mahima Joshi, the AOA secretary, said, “His children and wife have all the rights to live here. Residents have nothing against them. We only want the government to ensure that no security issue arises in this society. Since the matter has reached the chief minister, we are hopeful.” FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookTwitterInstagramKOO APPYOUTUBE
