Police initially said it was a suicide and are sticking to that (Representative image)NOIDA: A 26-year-old IT professional’s father alleged she had been sexually assaulted and killed. He cited a tearful video appeal for help she had sent to save her from Akash, a constable in mid-20s, who, she said, had entrapped her. When and where the video was recorded is yet to be determined, but it was sent on Monday (August 1) — the same night she checked into a hotel room in Sector 70 — to a former boyfriend with whom she had remained in touch. Police initially said it was a suicide and are sticking to that. The techie was found hanging from the ceiling fan of the room on Tuesday afternoon. A police officer said CCTV footage from the hotel had confirmed that she checked in alone. “She had ordered some refreshments after checking in at 9pm on Monday. No one visited her, neither did she visit anyone,” additional DCP (Noida central) Ankita Sharma said. “The cause of death in the autopsy report is ante-mortem injuries due to hanging. The report has ruled out rape. Swabs of the deceased are being tested since the family has alleged sexual assault and the reports will take some time,” Sharma added. Akash has been absconding since Tuesday when the techie was found dead. The FIR was filed on Wednesday. It names three others mentioned in the father’s complaint. “Akash is a UP Police constable of the 2019 batch. He was working on the night shift as a computer operator at Sector 49 police station. He has been absent from duty and his last location was found to be Meerut,” said Sharma. The three others have been questioned. “It has revealed the woman and her boyfriend had broken up six-seven months ago. Chats show she had earlier tried to harm herself and sent those videos to her former boyfriend. Her friends said she was under a lot of stress,” an officer said.
