NEW DELHI: In the shocking saga of Sahil Gehlot, who murdered Nikki Yadav and then married another woman the same day, it has now come to light that one of the accused who allegedly helped Gehlot in hiding Nikki’s body in a refrigerator is a Delhi Police constable. The arrested cop has been identified as Naveen, who is posted at the Dabri police station. He is the son of Gehlot’s maternal aunt.The others arrested for helping Gehlot are another cousin, Ashish, and two friends from Mitraon village, Lokesh and Amar. The murder was committed in Ashish’s Verna car. Police have also recorded the statement of a priest, Vipin Arya, who had solemnised the wedding of Sahil and Nikki in October 2020. TOI had on Saturday reported that Nikki and Sahil were not live-in partners, as believed earlier, but had married each other.Sahil’s cousins and friends stood guard as he dumped bodySahil Gehlot’s family was aware of his marriage to Nikki Yadav in 2020 but were still forcing him to remarry though he did not wish to, police said. The priest has told police that another priest had witnessed their wedding though no family member from either side was present. Police sources said two friends of the couple had also witnessed the wedding.Police said Nikki was murdered on the morning of Sahil’s scheduled wedding. He was not present for the rituals to be performed before the event and his family was getting worried. So, his father, along with his cousins and friends, left the village in three separate cars to look for him. “Sahil had switched off his phone, and since his family knew about Nikki, they were apprehensive,” said a cop. “When Sahil switched on his phone briefly, his cousins and friends, who were in a Tata Nexon, managed to speak to him and got to know about the dreadful murder. They rushed to Paschim Vihar to meet Sahil.”Delhi Police: ‘Sahil Gehlot erased all data from Nikki Yadav’s cellphone’His cousins and friends then escorted him to his dhaba at Mitraon village where he dumped the body as they stood guard outside. Sahil then left for his home in the Tata Nexon.Meanwhile, the police on Saturday questioned the father and younger sister of Nikki Yadav. Her sister is also seen in a CCTV footage seeing off Nikki in the morning, hours before she was murdered,” said a source.
