NEW DELHI: A girl was allegedly raped near east Delhi’s Anand Vihar almost a month ago, but police got to know about it only on Thursday when she went to a hospital after falling ill. Nobody has been arrested. After receiving the information from the hospital, a police team went there and the girl, a vagabond, told them that on January 9, around midnight, she went to Anand Vihar metro station along with her friend who sexually assaulted her. Police suspect two persons were involved in the case and said the girl had given some details. During counselling, the survivor also said she was earlier sexually assaulted at Mohan Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. “The girl was staying at a shelter home in Kalkaji where she fell ill and was taken to the hospital. The doctor there found that she had been sexually assaulted near a park in Anand Vihar,” police said. “We have spoken to shelter home staff to ascertain she went out with whom. Police have also questioned a few people in this regard,” said an official.The girl was produced before the child welfare committee, and a case under sections 376D (gang rape), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered at the Patparganj Industrial Area police station.Deputy commissioner of police (east) Amrutha Guguloth said they were taking all steps to arrest the accused. Police are scanning the CCTV camera footage from the area, another official said.
