Consequently, the party believes that the minister bears moral responsibility for the incident and should step down.महरौली में अनाधिकृत निर्माण के जिम्मेदार भ्रष्ट अधिकारियों व बिल्डरों पर कार्रवाई हो अपनी इस मांग को लेकर आज जन्तर-… https://t.co/3XpnHVmbab— Vijay Goel (@VijayGoelBJP) 1676457902000 Former Union minister Vijay Goel who was leading the protest demanded Lt Governor V K Saxena also take action action against officials responsible for unauthorised construction in the Mehrauli area. Saxena on Tuesday directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to stop the demolition drive, after a meeting with affected residents who were accompanied by BJP leaders. Goel claimed that whole of Delhi is littered with illegal constructions but no action was taken against the “corrupt” officials responsible for it. He suggested a single-window system be set up for the general public to find out whether a plot was owned privately or by the government and if construction on it is legal. Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri demanded the Kejriwal government call a special session of the Assembly to discuss the Mehrauli incident. “The Delhi government is fully responsible for Mehrauli demolition for which Revenue Minister Kailash Gehlot should accept moral responsibility and resign,” Bidhuri said in a statement. The Delhi government has accepted “mistake” by its Revenue Department in demarcation of the land which formed the basis for the demolition drive in Mehrauli. “The Revenue minister himself has accepted that there was a mistake in the survey by his department and ordered a fresh survey. Due to the mistake of the officers, people have lost their homes, so it is not only the responsibility of the officers, but the minister is also morally responsible,” Bidhuri said. He said that a special session of the Delhi Assembly should also be convened on the issue which should be broadcast live so that people can know the truth.(With inputs from PTI)
