By- Amit KumarKARNAL: The Crime Investigation Agency-III of the Panipat police arrested a man with 2.8kg of opium. The seized opium is said to be worth around Rs 8 lakh.The accused was identified as Omkar of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. Omkar was staying in a rented accommodation at Sector 6 in the city.”On Tuesday, we got information that a car carrying a drug consignment was coming from Delhi and going towards Panipat. A police team laid a naka near Bhodwal Majri mod in Samalkha. After some time, the team noticed a car and police signalled it to stop for checking. However, the accused tried to flee and abandoned the car a few meters from the naka, but the team nabbed him. During the checking, the team recovered 2.8kg of opium from his possession.”He said that during the investigation, it has been revealed that the accused brought the contrabands from Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
