NEW DELHI: A day after a 16-year-old girl was shot at by her neighbour in Nand Nagri, police arrested the accused, Kasim, from northeast Delhi. He was infuriated with her for talking to another boy. However, the victim’s family claimed that the accused had been harassing her for the past several months.Investigation revealed that the incident was planned a few days ago. “He had purchased a pistol five to six days ago for more than Rs 4,000,” an officer said. The victim’s uncle told TOI that 10 days before the incident, the girl had told her family members that Kasim used to harass her. “We went to his house and met his mother. There was an argument between us and the accused. His mother had told us that he would not follow her,” he said. The victim’s family thought that the matter was over, but on Monday, the accused came to her house and started an argument. “He asked my niece why she used to talk to anyone else; she replied that it was none of his business. He pulled out a pistol and shot her. He then jumped from the first floor and fled. I took her to a hospital,” her uncle said.
