(Representative image)NEW DELHI: A man aged between 25 and 30 years was allegedly thrashed and forced to clean a drain on the suspicion of theft in north Delhi’s Wazirabad area on Friday. A video of the incident went viral, which shows the man being tied to a pole and thrashed. Another person could be seen shaving the man’s head. Police have taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and registered an FIR. According to police, a video clip was getting viral on social media in which some people were seen beating a person namely Sakil and there were bystanders recording the video. Many of them also went live on Facebook. “The inquiry revealed that local residents of Wazirabad village had apprehended a man who had allegedly stolen a water motor from the house of one Faizan red-handed. The locals then gathered, tied his hands, put him to a pole and thrashed him. A case under sections of causing hurt, wrongful restraint, using criminal force to dishonour a person, among others, has been registered. Further probe is under way,” said a senior police officer.
