NEW DELHI: A 34-year-old traffic police head constable was dragged on the bonnet of a car when he tried to stop the vehicle, which was allegedly being driven by a juvenile in Shalimar Bagh, officials said. The incident took place on Thursday when head constable (HC)Sunil was deployed near Prembari Pul in the area.Police have apprehended four juveniles in the case, including the driver.On the day of the incident, “Sunil saw a car and tried to stop it, but instead of stopping, the driver sped the vehicle and hit the policeman. He fell on the bonnet and grabbed the wiper, and after a few metres, he fell down,” an officer said.The policeman fell on the road, but with the help of a biker, he was able to catch the culprit.The four juveniles are residents of Singalpur Village in Shalimar Bagh. During the investigation, it was found that they wanted to escape from the police challan so the driver sped the car.”They had taken the car for a joyride. The car was found registered in the name of the father of one of the accused,” the officer said. Local police were alerted about the incident. The injured constable was taken to the hospital for treatment and on the basis of information received from him, a case was registered under relevant sections of the law.Last month, a man was dragged on a car’s bonnet for about half a kilometre in west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden. Police arrested the driver, a 19-year-old college student, a resident of Ghaziabad.
