NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old differently abled boy was allegedly smothered to death by a juvenile hired for his care in south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave on Wednesday. The juvenile scribbled “Killer King” with toothpaste on a bathroom window, apparently inspired by a Bollywood movie, before fleeing with cash and jewellery worth Rs 5-6 lakh. Police later nabbed him at the New Delhi railway station. The victim’s family, which runs a jewellery business in north Delhi and Mumbai, was away visiting a temple in South Ex when the killing took place. The accused, reportedly aged 17, is from Samastipur in Bihar and was hired without police verification. He also left behind a black glove in the house, getting the idea from the 1996 flick, “Tu Chor Main Sipahi”. Cops await the postmortem report to determine if the teen was sexually assaulted. Felt humiliated while doing cleaning work, says accusedPolice plan to conduct a bone ossification test on the caregiver, who allegedly killed a differently abled teenager in Safdarjung Enclave on Wednesday, to verify if he is a minor. Speaking to TOI, the victim’s father said he along with five family members had gone to visit a temple on Wednesday afternoon, leaving behind his 26-year-old daughter, the son and the domestic in the house. “We left the house around 2.45pm, after my son had gone to sleep in his room. He normally used to take a nap between 2pm and 4pm. My daughter went to the Green Park market for a while. She returned to find that the door of her brother’s room, which was usually kept ajar, was locked and house help was missing,” he said. She called her cousin from the first floor and the two of them entered the boy’s room through another door. They found him lying on the bed, lifeless. The daughter informed her relatives and tried to call her parents but they were not taking calls. “My sister reached the temple and told me to come with her. We both reached home and came to know about the incident,” the 57-year-old father of the victim said. The cops were informed at 5.03pm by the boy’s sister and the body sent to hospital. “In the mirror of the bathroom, we found ‘Killer King’ and some numbers written through toothpaste. Later, we found a black glove,” an officer said. Deputy commissioner of police (south west) Manoj C said the domestic help killed the teenager by smothering with a pillow and fled with Rs 40,000 cash and jewellery. Investigations revealed that the accused left the house between 4.20pm and 4.40pm. While leaving, he told a security guard that he was going to his relative’s place in Hauz Khas village. “We questioned his relatives who told us that he may go to Bihar. A team rushed to the New Delhi railway station and apprehended the accused from a train going to Bihar,” the officer said. Investigators claimed the accused knew that cash and jewellery were kept at the victim’s grandmother’s room. “He took the cash and jewellery, and left for the railway station in a bus,” a police officer said. During interrogation, the accused told cops that he had seen in the Bollywood flick, “Tu Chor Main Sipahi”, that the thief wrote “King” and left a glove at the crime spot. He also threw the keys of a few rooms in the bathroom. The accused comes from an economically poor family and his father is a daily-wage labourer. During interrogation, he said that he felt humiliated while doing cleaning work for the teenager. He wanted to leave the job but had no money, cops said. “He had planned to steal money and jewellery from the house. He killed the victim as he was raising an alarm,” police said. They added that the accused had planned to run away to some place in Bihar other than his home.
