NOIDA: A 28-year-old engineer working for a private company was killed when a lift in a building under construction collapsed in Greater Noida on Monday. He had come to remove the temporary lift and during the process, the supporting system could not bear the load of the lift, which crashed on the ground,” additional deputy commissioner of police (Greater Noida) Dinesh Kumar Singh said. “Rathore suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital but he did not survive,” Singh said, adding other legal proceedings in the case were being carried out. Meanwhile, taking cognisance of the matter, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh ordered that an FIR be lodged in the case and those responsible for the episode be arrested. According to an official, the temporary lift was installed for a one year period at the site and after the completion of the tenure, it was being removed by the service provider company. A full-service proper lift inside the building has been installed, the official added.(With inputs from PTI)
