NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a peon at a government hospital in east Delhi on Thursday. Police said the accused and the survivor were neighbours and she had come to the hospital to meet him. The 25-year-old accused has been arrested. The survivor, a native of Uttar Pradesh, claimed she was sexually assaulted inside a room at the hospital in the afternoon. A police officer said, “The girl said that both knew each other and were friends. She herself had called him and went to meet him. The accused, a contractual employee, allegedly took her to a room and raped her. She was medically examined and a case of rape and under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered. The accused has been arrested. Investigation is under way.” A hospital official said, “Action has been taken by the police. We already have an ICC committee looking into the matter.” Meanwhile, in another incident reported from North East district’s Khajuri Khas, a 12-year-old girl alleged that she was sexually assaulted by her maternal uncle at her house on October 30. Police said a hospital informed them about the girl admitted there for treatment. A team reached the hospital and a case of rape, unnatural sex and under sections of POCSO Act was registered. The 52-year-old accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
