NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old Nigerian national was taken into custody in southeast Delhi for allegedly supplying drugs in the capital, police said on Saturday. Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) drug worth more than Rs 1 crore was recovered from the suspect, who has been identified as Onyekachi Anya Friday, a resident of Nigeria’s Enugu State, they added.Police claim to have received information about a drug-dealing gang operating in southeast Delhi. A Nigerian national was scheduled to deliver a shipment to one of his customers on Thursday, according to information provided by police.According to deputy commissioner of police (Southeast) Rajesh Deo, a trap was set, and at around two in the afternoon, the alleged offender, who arrived on a scooter, was apprehended.During his search, eight grams of illegal MDMA drug were recovered. Later, 213 grams of MDMA were recovered from Friday’s accommodation in the Tuglakabad Extension area. The recovered drug is worth over Rs 1 crore in the international market, the DCP said. Friday disclosed that he came to India last year. He used to procure this contraband substance from another Nigerian national in a big quantity at a cheaper rate and sell it in smaller quantities at a higher rate, police added.(With inputs from PTI)
