NEW DELHI: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) launched a three-day food festival “Swad maati ka” at Charkha Park on Friday. About 20 vendors/companies have set up stalls at the festival wherein only eco-friendly utensils are being used to prepare and serve a wide range of food items. Each stall has been decorated based on a certain theme. The event was inaugurated by lieutenant governor Vinai Kumar Saxena who expressed satisfaction that vendors and connoisseurs of Indian traditional food were participating in this festival in a large number. Whenever we use pottery utensils/kulhads, it also empowers a community and generates employment. This event is an effort on part of NDMC to restore our culinary heritage and taste and encourage the use of earthen pots/utensils,” he said. Such events will be organised in other parts of Delhi as well, said the LG.
