GURGAON: The Delhi-Mumbai expressway will transform one of the most backward districts of Nuh into an industrial hub, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said while virtually participating in the inauguration of the speedway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.A total of 129km of the expressway passes through Haryana, which includes much of Nuh. On Sunday morning, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Sohna-Dausa stretch of the expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa. Earlier in the day, Khattar, and Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Rao Inderjit Singh inspected the traffic management control tower near Sohna. While Gadkari left for Dausa to join the PM for the inauguration, Khattar, Rao Inderjit and deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala participated in the event virtually from the Hilalpur told plaza.”Nuh is an aspirational district for Haryana. With the first phase of the expressway ready, industries will now look forward to establishing their base in Nuh. Moreover, Haryana’s exports will be significantly enhanced as the expressway will connect it to cities that have sea ports,” Khattar said.Chautala said the expressway would boost the warehousing needs of e-commerce companies too. A number of data centres, he added, could also come off the expressway and give rise to employment opportunities. “In the coming years, Gurgaon, Nuh, Faridabad, Sonipat and other NCR districts of the state will be benefitted by the growth of e-commerce, warehousing and other industries. Youths here will have employment opportunities and they will reap the benefits of the socio-economic progress that this expressway will extend,” Chautala said. The deputy CM also said that the expressway would connect Gurgaon with three national parks and reduce the journey between Delhi and Jaipur by around two hours.Besides, the expressway will also connect the Delhi airport with the one coming up in Noida via Haryana and open the doors for urbanisation for villages falling in the stretch, he added.Minister Rao Inderjit said the expressway would change the image of south Haryana. “It will not only cut down travel time between Delhi and Jaipur, but also open up employment avenues for the youths,” he said. “I also urge the deputy chief minister to widen the two-lane Gurgaon-Alwar highway to a four-lane stretch.”The Sohna-Dausa stretch of the expressway will cut through 129km of Haryana, passing through Gurgaon, Palwal and Nuh. The estimated cost of the Haryana stretch is around Rs 10,400 crore.Watch Nitin Gadkari inspects Delhi-Mumbai expressway control room in Sohana
