NEW DELHI: The IGI unit of Delhi Police busted an international fake visa racket and arrested five people on Saturday. Police claimed that the accused invested money, earned through illegal activity, in the production of various web series. More than 300 Indian passports and 175 visas from foreign countries have been recovered. DCP (IGI Airport) Tanu Sharma said, “A total of five people have been arrested, including mastermind Zakir. 325 fake passports, 175 fake visas & other related things were recovered”. Deputy commissioner of police (IGIA) Tanu Sharma said the racket came to light after one Ravi Rameshbhai Chaudhary, a native of Gujarat, was deported from Kuwait for producing a fake passport. A case was registered. The DCP said, during the inquiry, it was revealed that the passport was arranged by agents identified as Zakir Yusuf Shaikh and Mushtaq alias Jamil Picturewala. “They had assured Chaudhary that his fake passport and visa would be arranged but he had to pay Rs 65 lakh. He paid Rs 15 lakh in advance,” the officer said. After hearing about Chaudhary’s arrest, the accused along with other agents fled their homes in Gujarat and Mumbai and kept changing their locations. During the inquiry, Picturewala was first to be nabbed. Later, Sheikh, Imtiaz Ali Sheikh and Sanjay Dattaram Chavan were also apprehended. “They were nabbed from Mumbai. Apart from Indian passports and visas, we have recovered over 1,200 stamps from different countries and airports, embassies, banks, 11 international driving permits, 75 passport jackets, 17 Aadhar cards and other things. Police said the gang takes Rs 50-60 lakh for preparing fake documents. The amount is taken in installments and final payment is made when the pax reaches its destination.
