The department has forecast a slight decrease in the maximum temperature after the rainfall on Saturday. However, the maximum temperature will increase from Monday and cross 35 degrees Celsius in the days later. On Saturday, light rainfall was recorded in Najafgarh, Ridge and Akshardham (sports complex). Between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm, the sports complex recorded 1.5 mm rainfall, Najafgarh 0.5mm and Ridge recorded ‘trace’ rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department, at Safdarjung, the maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average against 30.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 26.3 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average, against 26.5 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The humidity at Safdarjung oscillated between a maximum of 97% and a minimum of 68%. “The city is likely to see only light to very light rain on Sunday…at least till August 9, we don’t expect moderate or high-intensity rain in Delhi. The daytime temperature may thus increase by two to three degrees Celsius from Monday onwards,” said RK Jenamani, senior scientist, IMD. Meanwhile, the air quality in the city worsened. The AQI on a scale of 0 to 500, was recorded at 98 against 72 a day earlier. “AQI today indicates ‘satisfactory’ air quality. Dust (size over 2.5 micrometre) contributes about 47% to PM10,” SAFAR said in a statement. FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookTwitterInstagramKOO APPYOUTUBE
