The men, residents of Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, have been identified as Ashish Chauhan (27), the accused in the kidnapping case, and Deepak Chauhan (23), police said. According to the cops, Ashish, along with his associates Vivek, Rohit, Vinod and Sunil, kidnapped a person in a car at gunpoint from GT Karnal Road near Singhu Village on August 29, 2017 and demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore. “A police team from the Alipur police station managed to track the suspects and a brief shootout followed, in which one of the suspects, Aryan, was injured. Both Ashish and Aryan were caught. Ashish got bail on November 3, 2020, and jumped it, becoming an absconder. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him,” an officer said. Deepak was arrested in the alleged rape case of July 2021, which was registered in the Noida Sector 39 police station. He used to work at a call centre in Noida and met the woman there, the officer said. He had fled after the alleged crime.
