NEW DELH: A DCP-rank officer posted at Delhi Police Academy (DPA) has written to the Delhi Police commissioner and alleged corruption in various tenders and collusion with vendors. In an interesting turn of events, the DCP was transferred out of the academy just a day after he sent the letter. As a controversy erupted, his transfer was stayed. Now, an inquiry has been initiated in the matter. In the letter, which was sent on February 15, the DCP claimed that, from the past few weeks and months, a huge number of civil and minor works have been going on in the academy in Jharoda Kalan by many contractors and vendors “without following or observing the proper procedure and codal formalities and also without the knowledge of the DCP.””The contractors and vendors have not given any estimates till date regarding the civil and minor works that have been carried out by them on the directions of some senior officers posted in DPA. This is certainly going to be a huge burden on the government’s expenditure as it involves greater costs amounting to crores of rupees,” the letter alleged.A day after the letter was written, the DCP was transferred from Jharoda Kalan to DPA Wazirabad Campus as deputy director, and another officer was posted in his place. As a controversy erupted, his transfer was stayed. In an order, the director of DPA said the order issued regarding the work allocation of deputy directors in DPA was held in abeyance till further orders.
