The department of health and family welfare of the Delhi government had issued an order on April 26 reducing the fine for violating the Covid-19 protocol and not wearing the face mask to Rs 500. Since most people have not been following the Covid protocol, the district officials are now forming teams to enforce the rule. A south district official said that these teams, headed by a tehsildar and comprising 15 civil defence volunteers each, have been formed to fine people not wearing the face masks. Other districts have also launched special enforcement drives to ensure Covid-19 protocol is followed. While the number of Covid-19 cases and positivity rate have seen a massive increase in the last one month, the dip in the number of challans issued for not wearing face masks in public places has been inversely proportional. From close to 1,000 challans a day till July 15, the number came down to below 500 from August 1 onwards and has remained below 400 since August 5, sources said. The fine under this provision of the notification will not be applicable to people travelling together in private four-wheeler vehicles FOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIAFacebookTwitterInstagramKOO APPYOUTUBE
