In the videos, the bouncers (in black) can be seen thrashing the woman’s friendsGURUGRAM: Six security workers and the manager of a club – all bouncers – were arrested on Wednesday for a brawl with a group of customers as an argument escalated into a full-blown fight. The incident, captured in videos believed to have been shot by passersby, is from the early hours of Monday (August 8), around 2am and was reminiscent of a brawl outside a pub in Noida’s Gardens Galleria mall earlier this year. In that assault, which happened in April, a young executive who was beaten up by the Noida pub’s staffers died. Gurugram police announced they had made the arrests as the videos hit social media and were shared widely, showing the bouncers thrashing the group on the road outside the club in Udyog Vihar. The argument is believed to have begun after a woman who was part of the group accused one of the bouncers of inappropriately touching her. In the police complaint filed by one of the patrons allegedly beaten up – an executive with an MNC – he said he had gone to Casa Danza with two friends and met some other friends at the entrance to the club. The bouncer who their woman friend confronted began misbehaving, following which the rest of the group intervened, according to the complaint. At the same time, other bouncers came to their colleague’s defence. “The manager of the club arrived, and when we shared our grievance, he directed the bouncers to beat us up. There were two managers and around 8-10 bouncers who were wearing black clothes. The bouncers kept thrashing us and took me and my male friends to the middle of the road and threw us to the ground after which they started hitting us with sticks,” the complainant told the cops. The complainant said it was only because of a brief traffic snarl that the bouncers left them on the ground and went back to the club. “Before they left, the managers Lokesh and Santosh said they won’t leave us alive next time. I can identify the managers and bouncers. We were badly injured, following which we made a call to 100. Police came and rushed us to hospital. My nose was bleeding because of which I was not able to breathe properly,” said the complainant. In the videos that were shared, a woman is seen pleading with the bouncers to stop. But they ignore her, raining kicks and punches on her friends. At one point, she screams, ‘Chhoro, khoon nikal raha hai (Leave him, he’s bleeding)’. The complainant has also alleged that his friend’s watch and Rs 10,000-12,000 cash were stolen from them. An FIR was registered at Udyog Vihar police station under sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354A (assault or criminal force with an intention to outrage the modesty of a woman), 379A (theft) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, police commissioner Kala Ramachandran said. Police said Lokesh and six bouncers – Sonu, Mandeep, Sumit, Nitin, Ram Singh and Rakesh – have been arrested. In a statement, Casa Danza said it condemned the violence, which took place “between a group of visitors and third-party security agency personnel”. “We empathetically deny the molestation allegations surrounding the bodyguard, as evident in the surveillance footage that we have reviewed. It is pertinent to point out that we have adequate female security personnel as well,” it said. “From the naked eye perusal of videos and photographs, it can easily be ascertained that the guests initially verbally misbehaved which later on turned out to be a bigger mess by both sides,” it added. The club, however, stressed that “under no circumstance should bodyguards have resorted to violence”. “We assure all our patrons that we have fired the errant individuals, commenced legal proceedings and strict action is being taken against the security personnel involved,” it said.
