NEW DELHI: Delhi Jal Board (DJB) vice-chairman Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday emphasised on the expansion of sewage system in the city, which is crucial to a clean the Yamuna. Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised to clean the river in the next three years. The laying of sewer lines in all 1,799 unauthorised colonies should be sped up, Bharadwaj said at a weekly review meeting. Bharadwaj was informed that the in situ treatment of the Nazafgarh and other drains, which have an outfall into the Yamuna, was on, and 16 such drains had been trapped while three diverted to sewage treatment plants. The meeting also focused on stopping wastewater from entering storm water drains, polluting fresh water sources. The work at 52 of 59 such points have been completed.
