Image used for representative purpose onlyNEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly killing an 8-year-old girl after she saw him in a compromising position with her mother at her residence in central Delhi. Police said he had sexually assaulted the girl and mutilated her face. The accused was identified as Rizwan alias Badshah, a resident of Raqabganj and butcher by profession. DCP (central) Shweta Chauhan said on the intervening night of August 4-5, the victim’s father filed a missing complaint of her daughter. “He was sleeping at home with his wife and four children. At about 4 am, he found one of his daughters missing,” she said. A case under section 363 (kidnapping) of IPC was registered. Police said, on August 18, the girl’s body was found in the Yamuna Khadar area. Her throat was slit by sharp objects. “The body was dumped in a drain and after the rainwater receded, her body was discovered,” police said. Postmortem of the deceased was conducted and section 302 of IPC and POCSO act were added. During the investigation, cops came to know about Rizwan who used to visit the victim’s shanty frequently. Later, he was caught in Raqabganj. Rizwan, a native of Bihar, came to Delhi 20 years ago and started working as a butcher. “He is unmarried and a drug addict. He used to go to Yamuna Khadar for consuming weed. During his visits, he developed intimacy with the girl’s mother. One day, the girl saw him in a compromising position with her mother and hence, he decided to kill her,” the officer said. Police said, on August 4, Rizwan reached near her shanty and consumed alcohol and weed. After the girl and her family had slept, he entered the shanty and kidnapped the girl. He took her to the jungle and allegedly sexually assaulted her. “He then took out a knife and slit her throat and mutilated her face,” the officer said.
