NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy was alleged to have been sexually assaulted by five people in north Delhi’s Civil Lines. The suspects, who stay in the same area, allegedly sodomised the boy multiple times over the last few years. The Civil Lines police station received information in this regard on Friday. Deputy commissioner of police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said a team from the police station reached the spot and met the boy. “He claimed that he had been sexually abused by some local boys. The accused had threatened the victim with dire consequences if he revealed the incident to anyone. The victim and his mother gave a written complaint. The boy was properly counselled,” the officer added.Medical examination of the boy was conducted in a hospital, and a case under sections 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC was registered. A 26-year-old man, who works at a share market firm in Noida, was arrested and efforts were on to identify and nab the other accused.Data accessed by TOI shows that 1,529 Pocso cases were reported last year, while the count stood at 1,454 in 2021. As many as 1,424 cases were solved last year whereas 1,392 cases were solved in 2021, the data revealed.
