The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has approached four more AAP MLAs, and “offered Rs 20 crore to switch and join the party”. Following this, AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called a political affairs committee (PAC) meeting of all party leaders.
CM Kejriwal said, “Some MLAs have been offered money, and have also been threatened with CBI and ED (cases). The excise policy investigation, CBI and ED raid will continue till the Gujarat Assembly elections. We have called a political affairs committee meeting with all party leaders to discuss the issue and formulate a strategy to counter efforts to buy MLAs.”

Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who was the first to allege that he received a call from BJP to join them, said in a tweet, “They failed to break me, so now they are trying to break other AAP MLAs with Rs 20 crore bribe/offer and has started a conspiracy to threaten them with CBI and ED. BJP be careful, we are soldiers of Arvind Kejriwal ji, followers of Bhagat Singh, we die but will not betray. Your CBI and ED have nothing in front of them.”
The four AAP MLAs who alleged that they received a call from BJP with an offer of Rs 20 crore to switch sides are Somnath Bharti, Sanjeev Jha, Ajay Dutt and Kuldeep Kumar.
Addressing a press conference, AAP national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh, said, “The Modi-government tried every tactic to break the AAP government in Delhi. I will disclose every single detail of how Narendra Modi and his party is maligning the Constitution and how they are using their central agencies constantly to destroy the Delhi government. Their first attempt to break Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia failed, so they have now started a similar method on other MLAs.”
Accusing PM Modi, Sanjay Singh said, “Modi ji is using all his central agencies (CBI and ED) to threaten our MLAs and bring them into the BJP’s fold by hook or by crook. The saffron party and its leaders approached four of our MLAs and offered them Rs 20 crore each for joining the BJP. They told our MLAs that if you don’t join BJP, fake cases will be filed and CBI and ED raids will be conducted against you resulting in a situation like Sisodia’s.”

“BJP has also told the MLAs that if you break and switch sides, you will get Rs 20 crore and Rs 25 crore if you bring other leaders along. They have been saying that the BJP is also in touch with 20 other MLAs. What is all this, Modi? You should feel ashamed. On one side, there is Kejriwal who is working hard to provide free education, health, electricity, water, free travelling and schemes like tirath yatra (pilgrim) for senior citizens, and on the other there is Modi and his government wants to topple the state government. You (Modi) want to sell the country and Kejriwal wants to save this country.”
Meanwhile, AAP senior leader and MLA from Greater Kailash Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged, “Besides the four MLAs, BJP has approached and is targeting 35 more AAP leaders with the offer of Rs 20 crore bribe, if they topple AAP government… Rs 20 crore each will amount to Rs 700 crore for 35 persons… I want to ask the BJP the source of this money… This is the matter that should be investigated by CBI and ED, from where is this black money coming from, where are they hiding.”
Bharadwaj added, “This is not the first time, the BJP in 2014 tried to bribe AAP leaders and they caught the BJP leaders redhanded in a sting operation… Neither you can buy us, nor you can break AAP…” The four MLAs who alleged they were offered Rs 20 crore from the BJP were also present at the conference.
