(Representative image)NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after he fell on the road while trying to avoid hitting a stray dog in north Delhi’s Wazirabad on Thursday. Police said as soon as he fell from his bike, another vehicle hit him. The deceased was identified as Rahul. He lived in Biharipur and was working as a helper cum cook at Leela hotel near Karkardooma court. At 11.29 pm, police received a call about the incident and the injured was lying at Pusta Road in Wazirabad village. Deputy commissioner of police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, one motorcycle was found in an accidental condition at the spot. Witnesses claimed that his bike slipped on the road after a street dog came in the way. While trying to avoid hitting the animal, he lost control and fell on the road. He was hit by a pickup van. The driver fled the spot along with the vehicle. Rahul was going to his residence from Hari Nagar at the time of the incident. An officer said that the spot was not properly illuminated due to which he was probably not able to see the dog. After falling, he received injuries on the back side of his head and died on the spot. A case was registered and CCTVs were being analysed to get clues about the offending vehicle. Police said they were still probing whether the biker was wearing helmet at the time of the incident.
