NEW DELHI: A two-day-old baby, who was born with a rare case of gut cyst, underwent a surgical incision at a city-based private hospital. “During the surgery, a part of the intestine of the newborn had to be resected and rejoined. It is a rare presentation with few reports available on it. Baby was kept on a ventilator overnight and extubated the next day. The baby is recovering now in the NICU and will be discharged shortly,” Moolchand Hospital noted in a statement. On December 13, the child’s mother underwent caesarean section at the hospital. Doctors said that during an antenatal ultrasound, a cyst was seen in foetus. The child with volvulus – twisting or knotting of the gastrointestinal tract – underwent the surgery .
