NEW DELHI: Citing a Lokayukta directive to former Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta to disclose his sources of income in acquiring certain properties, AAP on Sunday said that it would stage a protest at BJP’s office if the party didn’t act against him within two days.AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said, “The Lokayukta is conducting a disproportionate assets investigation against former Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta for amassing properties worth crores as the mayor of the erstwhile north corporation. Despite being issued notice multiple times, Gupta is yet to declare his sources of income.”Gupta, who was the mayor of north corporation in 2018-2019, alleged that the case was a part of political vendetta at the behest of AAP. He said he would file a defamation case against Bharadwaj. “AAP’s allegations are baseless and politically motivated. They have a history of levying false allegations and, then, apologising in court.” Gupta said AAP was getting back at him as he had “exposed several instances of corruption” by its leaders.AAP functionary Durgesh Pathak also said that the party would stage a big protest on the issue if action was not taken in two days. The office of Lokayukta had, in a written order to Adesh Gupta’s council Hariom Gupta on November 11, stated: “The respondent is directed to disclose the sources of income of acquiring the movable and immovable properties, detailed in the complaint and the report of the assistant director (investigation).”
