CHANDIGARH: In a significant development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has dissolved the entire working and executive committee of its Haryana unit. Dinesh Pratap Singh and Mahender Chaudhary, the co-in charges. Chitra Sarwara, the north zone Coordinator and the in charge of parliamentary as well as assembly constituencies.“This has been done to carry out an extensive exercise of having executives at all levels. Now, our main focus would be on the expansion of the cadre from the booth level only. We are hopeful of getting the new executive of district and state level bodies by April,” a senior AAP leader said. The leaders shall continue to function as usual, he added.Notably, since 2014, AAP had been struggling to have its base in the state. Initially, it was Yogender Yadav and Navin Jaihind who were flag bearers of the party in the state. After the 2014 poll debacle, Yogender Yadav made an unceremonious exit and Navin Jaihind ran the show.Even though Jaihind could not improve the vote share in the 2019 elections and post-elections, he too had left AAP and Dr Sushil Gupta was made in charge of Haryana affairs.Later following success in Punjab, a lot of leaders from other parties joined AAP.These include Chitra Sarwara, the national coordinator of the social media of Congress. As AAP had managed to make its presence felt in the recently concluded elections to the Panchayati Raj institutions and Municipal Committees, the AAP high command had been mulling carrying out the complete restructuring of the units in Haryana. For the past few months, AAP national leader Anurag Dhanda, who also has roots in Haryana, had been active in the state.
