HYDERABAD: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday grilled Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha for over 10 hours in the Delhi excise policy case. As his ED custody ended on Monday, investigators produced Arun before the court, and he was remanded to judicial custody. A high-voltage drama prevailed at the ED office following speculation that she may be arrested by the investigating agency. Security was beefed up at chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s residence, where Kavitha stayed put on Sunday night, and also at ED headquarters. The Delhi Police have set up barricades to prevent BRS leaders and cadres from crowding at the ED head office.Information technology minister K T Rama Rao and Rajya Sabha MP J Santosh, both family members of Kavitha, were present in Delhi.On March 16, Kavitha refused to appear before the investigating agency citing the pending petition in front of the Supreme Court. Earlier on March 11 ED questioned Kavitha for nine hours.The ED asked her questions regarding the WhatsApp messages and meetings of the accused in Delhi and Hyderabad as revealed by her ex-auditor Gorantla Butchi Babu. The key accusation is that Kavitha, as part of South Lobby, conspired with the Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia and others in formulating the Delhi excise policy. She allegedly held benami investments in tainted company Indospirits. These companies were benefited due to the policy. The ED questioned her regarding the alleged exchange of 100 crore in the scam and the movement of money.BJP leader and advocate N Ramchander Rao told the media, “Summoning Kavitha by the ED is a legal process and she has to give her statement under Section 50 of the PMLA Act but she is trying to avoid it by filing an application before the Supreme Court where she did not get any relief”.Meanwhile, the ED has served notices to YSRC MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy to appear before the agency on Tuesday.
