NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has caught four cyber crooks in three operations.In one operation, the cyber cell of the outer-north district arrested two men who had allegedly cheated people looking online for work-from-home options. The suspects were identified as Vicky from Surat and Kuldeep from Nagpur.The police have frozen 12 UPI IDs and bank accounts of the duo. Rs 1.65 lakh has been frozen till now.DCP Ravi Singh said the gang asked people to fill out a set of 480 forms with at least 90% accuracy to receive their payout for the assignment. “They, however, tweaked the software in such a way that nobody would achieve the target. Thereafter, the gang levied fines for non-completion of work,” the DCP said.Cops started tracking the gang after a woman lost Rs 2.5 lakh to them. The woman got a purported “legal notice” by the gang to shell out lakhs of rupees to compensate for the supposed loss to a fictitious company.In the second operation, Dwarka district police arrested Mantej Ansari who had duped people by promising them doorstep services of plumbers, carpenters and electricians. The suspect created online ads and a purported helpline. The gang posted fake ads online and trapped people. DCP M Harshvardhan said the accused made victims download an application called RustDesk and asked them to register there. He took control of their devices using a screen sharing application which enabled remote access. He then siphoned off money.The Dwarka police arrested another man, named Juned Beg, for extorting money from people after blocking their Instagram accounts. “Beg, of Batla House, used to target people with many followers and blackmailed them into paying money for unlocking their accounts,” an official said.
