GURUGRAM: Three executives of a multinational software company and their driver died in an accident on the Delhi-Jaipur highway in the early hours of Tuesday after a truck moving at high speed jumped the divider and landed on their Innova. Two others in the MUV were injured. The accident happened around 1.30am near Sidhrawali, nearly 20km from Gurgaon city. The executives were returning from a vacation in Udaipur. Police said the truck, laden with sacks of corn, was headed for Jaipur and travelling at 80-90kmph when its driver lost control and crashed into the divider. The impact flung the truck onto the other carriageway. As it turned turtle, the truck’s rear landed on the MUV, killing all four who were seated on the right. The Innova was mangled beyond recognition. It took police, nearby villagers and two cranes two hours to cut through its rear and rescue the two injured passengers. Muskan, Aadarsh and Pujit were colleagues at Adobe India’s office in Noida. They had planned to return from Udaipur by Tuesday morning and join work. Ajay Kumar, SHO of the nearby Bilaspur police station, said cops received an alert from a patrolling vehicle and rushed to the spot around 2am. “The rescue effort began after that,” he added. “First, the truck had to be unloaded and then made to stand on its wheels. The car was cut open and the occupants brought out. We took all of them to the hospital. Four of them were declared dead on arrival while the others were admitted,” said Kumar. Aadarsh, who was from Meerut, studied engineering at IIT-Ropar and joined Adobe recently. His father, Satyender Kumar, said he had spoken to his son before going to sleep around 11.30pm. “He told me they would return home by dawn. I was a little worried because they chose to travel at night,” said Satyender, an IIT alumnus himself who works for the Military and Engineering Services in Meerut. Around 3am, Aadarsh’s mother woke up from her sleep suddenly and called up her son to find out if he had reached home. A policeman took the call. “His parents are inconsolable. Aadarsh’s elder sister is on the way from Bengaluru. The body will be cremated once she arrives,” said Amit Shahi, Aadarsh’s uncle. Muskan, who was from Kolkata, graduated from VIT in Vellore. “Her father is a businessman in Kolkata. She had bagged the Adobe job after passing out of VIT last year,” said a relative, who arrived to take the body. Pujit was from Bengaluru. His family was on the way to Gurgaon and was expected to reach by Tuesday evening. Deepak is survived by his wife and a three-year-old son. His cousin, Vinod Kumar, said he had spoken to him last on Sunday night. “He told me he would reach Noida by 3am. He had been driving for 10 years. The owner of the Innova knew the youngsters and asked Deepak to take them to Udaipur. He had bought the car just three months ago,” Vinod said. Prerna, a Kolkata resident, suffered a fracture in the left leg. Jasnur, from Patiala, had minor wounds. According to the police, Prerna and Muskan were sitting in the third row while Aadarsh and Pujit shared the middle seat. Jasnur sat in the front with Deepak, who was behind the wheel. Jasnur and Pujit shared a flat in Noida while the others lived in different parts of the NCR city.
