NEW DELHI: Three people were injured after a man ran his car over a group of people in north Delhi’s Nehru Enclave in Alipur on Wednesday. The car driver has been arrested. Initially, he was booked for a simple accident, but after a video of the incident showing the car running over people went viral on social media, police added an attempt to murder charge to the FIR. The accused, Nitin Maan, is a resident of Alipur. He was booked under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others). When cops from Alipur police station reached the spot, they found that the injured were rushed to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital at Narela. The cops met three people, Meena (60), her grandson Yuvraj (6) and Roshan (18), at the hospital. While Meena and her grandson had simple injuries, Roshan had sustained a fracture in his leg. “Meena’s son, Raj Kumar, told police that around 9pm, when his family members and he were standing outside their house, they saw a man in a Creta car arguing with a biker. Kumar and others went to the driver and tried to pacify him, but he got in his car and drove it into the group of people, injuring three,” said DCP (Outer-North) Devesh Kumar Mahla.
