GURUGRAM: The district and sessions court on Friday set bail conditions for the accused in the 2017 school murder case, paving the way for his release from a government facility in Karnal, a day after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail. Now 21, the youth, who was apprehended by CBI as a juvenile offender when he was 16 years old, is to face trial in the case as an adult, following an order by the Juvenile Justice Board on October 17. He is scheduled, according to the JJB order, to appear before an additional sessions judge on October 30. With the district court also appointing a probation officer, as directed by the apex court, the accused was released on Friday. Through the probation officer, he will remain under the supervision of the district court. Setting his bail terms, district and sessions judge Surya Pratap Singh ordered the youth to surrender his passport and cooperate in court proceedings and appear for hearings. “He will not influence or intimidate or pressure or contact any witnesses in the case… He will not be active in the periphery of the residential area of the victim’s family,” the judge said. The accused was apprehended by CBI on November 7, 2017, two months after the Class II student was found with his throat slit in their school’s washroom on September 8.
