NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old boy was stabbed to death by seven people, including four juveniles, in northeast Delhi’s Seelampur. Police said the brother of the victim is lodged in Tihar Jail where he had a fight with the brother of one of the accused, following which a plan was hatched to kill the teen. The seven accused have been apprehended. Police said one of the accused had a rivalry with the teen, identified as Sameer, over a girl, which was used to trigger a fight. Two other persons, one of them the key conspirator, are now absconding. After receiving a call at 2.30am on Wednesday, a police team reached the spot, but the victim was already shifted to hospital. A case was registered based on the statement of Sajid (28), his cousin. Sameer used to run a tea stall at Chauhan Bangar Pulia. On the day of the murder, he was still at the shop when Anas alias Kala went there and took him to a nearby place where five-six people were already waiting, Sajid said. A heated argument ensued, following which they stabbed Sameer and fled, he alleged, adding that hearing Sameer shouting for help, he rushed to the spot. Sameer was taken to GTB Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Using CCTV footage, other technical surveillance and human intelligence, police zeroed in on a suspected group of people seen manhandling the deceased. “Three of the accused have been identified as Anas, Faizan and Asif, all 22 years old. They said Shoib Mastan, the victim’s brother, and another man, Altaf, are currently in Tihar Jail. They had a dispute in jail and Altaf told his cousin Zoaib Chaudhary about it, who passed it on to the inmate’s father, Aftab. It was Aftab who hatched the conspiracy and involved all other accused to teach Sameer a lesson,” DCP Sanjay Sain said. Anas worked for Aftab and liked a girl whom Sameer also liked. He earlier threatened Sameer to stay away from her. Aftab knew about it and used it as a ploy to engage Anas in implementing his plan.
